Noah's Dedication

On Sunday, April 11, 2010 we dedicated Noah to the Lord at CCCH! To be honest, when Noah was very first born, we immediately dedicated him to the Lord, but this was something that we wanted to do with all of our family there! What a blessing it was to have this special day for Noah! Our little boy is already one year old and completely running around all over the place!
I will never forget that day when Noah was born and when he first came out of mommy's womb! What an amazing moment it was for me as his father to say the words, "My Boy!" Sorry that I cannot share with you the tone of voice on that, but it was absolutely amazing!
There are definitely many prayers that we have for our amazing little boy, but I will share with you one of them.

It is that he would grow up to be a true worshiper of Jesus Christ.

I will never forget when we were driving that early morning, on our way to Medenbach (a local village) to go to the midwife's house where Noah would be delivered, and we were praying and listening to worship music. It was there in the car that it really stood out to me to pray that he would be a worshiper of Jesus. Also, during the labor, Gundi, our dear friend and midwife, had worship music playing in the background, and when Noah was born, one of my favorite worship songs from many years ago was playing. The chorus went like this..... "What a merciful, merciful, merciful God, what a merciful, merciful, merciful God, what a merciful, merciful, merciful God You are...."

So, we do ask, that as you pray for Noah, pray that he would truly be a true worshiper of Jesus Christ!

CC Düsseldorf

Hello

this is simply a note to the person that wrote to me on us sharing at CC Chino Hills. I have not way of getting a hold of you, so I hope that this does. You said that you have a sister that lives in Düsseldorf and is looking for a fellowship. Let her know that there is a Calvary Chapel Düsseldorf! It is a radical church and a really good friend of mine is the senior pastor there.
God Bless

The Cloud

"Whenever the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would go onward in all their journeys. But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not journey till the day that it was taken up."
Exodus 40:36-37

How amazing it must have been for the Children of Israel to be physically led by the Lord with the 'cloud by day and fire by night.' If you think about it, it would have been a lot easier to make the decisions of when to move forward, when to wait, where to stop, etc. And yet the Lord tells us through His word that 'the just shall live by faith,' and 'we walk by faith and not by sight.'

Today we do not have this physical cloud to tell us when we are to go onward in our journeys, but we have something greater! We have the Holy Spirit dwelling within us speaking to us through the Word of God telling us when to go, where to go, when to wait, and when to be still.

I am not sure what the Lord has been telling you recently, but know that He will be faithful to speak to you when you are faithful to search for Him with all of your heart.

HOW DOES THIS APPLY TO US?
Well, we were scheduled to leave from California this coming Thursday, April 22nd to head back to Deutschland and arrive there on Friday, April 23rd.
As most of you know, there is a cloud that is covering most of Europe that is not allowing us to get back to Deutschland, so we have had to rebook our flight back to Germany.

WHEN DO WE GO?
Today I was able finalize our tickets back to Deutschland! We will be headed back there on Saturday, May 1st and will arrive on Sunday evening, May 2nd!

Lord willing, these dates will work out and get us back to Deutschland! Until then, we shall continue to enjoy our time in So Cal!

You Pray First

I had the opportunity to pray with someone that is very dear to me the other day and I thought I would share with you all about it. I believe that this could minister to each of us individually. So here it goes...

The other day my grandmother called my parents house to ask for prayer. I answered the phone, which was kind of a surprise to her, but she was really excited that I did answer it. Her first words were, "Joey, I need some prayer. Can you please pray for me?" She went on to tell me what she needed prayer for. This was really sweet. (Just so you know, my grandmother is in her 80's and has been growing in her relationship with the Lord over the past few years.)
If any of you had have me pray for you, you might be familiar to what I told my grandmother next. I said that I would love to pray for her, but this was the deal.... "Grandma, I want you to pray first and then I will pray for you." This was definitely a shock to her. She replied, "Me pray first?" I went on to tell her, "Grandma, I am a father now and I love to hear from my kids! I love to hear their voices! And in the same way you have a Heavenly Father that loves to hear your voice. He wants to hear from you."
Her response was not only sweet, it was honest. "Oh Joey, I have not talked with Him in awhile." I went on to encourage her to just pick right back up and get back to talking to Him, for He is just waiting to hear from her.
As she began to pray, the sweetest, truthful, and well-pleasing words began to flow out of her mouth and I know that if it brought so much joy to my heart, how much more did it bring to our Heavenly Father's heart.

'Call to Me, and I will answer you," Jer. 33:3

Although my grandmother is new in her faith with Jesus Christ, the Lord really used that phone call to minister to me in a radical way! This verse in Jeremiah was a verse that I prayed with her when it was my turn to pray, and although it was one that I was quoting to encourage her, I know that it was one that I needed to be reminded of.

  • What is it that you need prayer for right now?
  • Talk to Him (Jesus)!
  • Be open
  • Be honest
  • He is just waiting
  • No matter how long it has been, just pick it up again and begin to talk with your Heavenly Father
  • He loves to hear from you!
