Excited about tomorrow Night

Tomorrow night we are going to be continuing through the book of Joel. The text that we will be starting with will be Joel 2:12. I am not sure at this point where I will be ending, but I would encourage you to be reading from this verse on to the end of the chapter as there are so many encouraging things that the Lord declares to His people in these verses.

Once again, I want to ask you to please be praying for this coming Wednesday Night service at Calvary Chapel Herborn.

God Bless

Grillin' in the Winter

Today we are at the Lohmann's house for some Grillin'. We have talked about this for a while now. I told my friend Dennis that it doesn't matter if it is the winter or summer, we can still grill. So he was up to it also! He said that some of his neighbors already came by when they smelled the meat cooking and they continued to walk by, shaking their heads. Some of the Germans think we are crazy for doing this, but hey, it's going to be good!

Picking up in Joel

It has been a few weeks since we have been in the book of Joel. Two weeks ago we were in the midst of the Prayer and Fasting Week and last week, my body was not doing so well because of my arthritis and so we had Alex Adams share with us his testimony. Alex and his wife Catie are joining us for these next 3 months to come and help here at the church! What a blessing it was to have Alex step in and share a part of his testimony and what the Lord has done in his life. I know that the Lord really used him and I was extremely blessed as well. So tonight we will be getting back into the book of Joel and will be looking at the topic, "The Day of the Lord."
I do want to ask all of you to please pray for:

  • Preparation - of the study
  • Proclamation - of the study
  • Translation - of the study
  • Response - of His Church
  • Good Weather & Open Roads - we have had a lot of snow
  • And anything else that the Lord lays on your heart

Thanks and God Bless

It is officially Winter

Today is December 21st and on the calendar it is officially marked as "WINTER BEGINS." Somehow I am not sure that date on the calendar really makes any difference here in Germany. Every since Thanksgiving day, we have had snow on the ground! These past weeks there has been a little bit of break here and there, but really, it just has not stopped! THE SNOW KEEPS COMING AND COMING!
Now I do want to admit that I still really do love the snow and think that it is absolutely beautiful, but there is a lot of work that comes with it! Shoveling snow is now becoming my daily duty. The problem for me is that my arthritis really is affected, and so I have to make sure that I am careful with all of this snow shoveling. But God is good!
Just the other night, after shoveling over at the church a few times because of the amount of snow that was coming down, I came home at the end of the night and to my surprise, someone had shoveled out my front driveway! What a blessing!

So I thought I would share with you all a few pictures from this morning after shoveling snow. These 3 photos are from different views in the front of our house! The snow keeps coming and it keeps piling up!as you can see, I am simply piling up the snow. No where else to put it

Prayer & Fasting - 2nd Night

Last night was our second night of prayer and fasting as a church! Continuing on from the topic of personal confession and repentance, we continued to go a little further and a little deeper. We focused on the topic of FAMILY. We first spent a great amount of time in praying for our marriages and praying for one another s marriages. We then spent a great amount of time praying for the children that the Lord has blessed us with. We then spent time praying as a church for those who are in need of a job. It was a blessing to see people volunteering to pray for these who need a job! Rebecca and I were then blessed to have people come and lay their hands on us and pray for our visa renewal process! We then ended the night together as a church, in one accord, praying for the healing of a dear sister in our fellowship that will be having surgery on Friday.

As we were continuing throughout the night, I could not help but think of how the Church was "loving one another" through going and praying for one another. I am reminded of this verse...

"My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth."

We continue to look forward to what the LORD is going to do in HIS CHURCH here in Herborn tonight!
PLEASE KEEP PRAYING!

Prayer & Fasting - 1st Night

Last night we started our Prayer and Fasting week together as a church. Each night of this week we will be coming together at 7:30pm to pray and seek the Lord. Last night was the first night and I would say that the Lord really blessed it! I was completely blessed to see how many people responded on this first night to come out for prayer.
As we prayed together, we really focused in on ourselves and asked the Lord to forgive us of our sins. After a time of one on one with the Lord, people then began to openly confess their sins unto the Lord. I do believe that the Lord has just begun to do this work in us as a church and I do look forward to what the Lord is going to do tonight!
As the night came to a close, the Lord really began to remind me of a verse in Isaiah which says, "Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool."
And it was such a blessing because right after the Lord was speaking that to me, Pastor Edmund got up and began to ask the congregation what the blood of Jesus does. People began to openly declare what the Bible says that the blood of Jesus does for those who have placed their faith in him. It was amazing!

Here are a few pics from last night:

Keep praying!
For those of you who can come... HOPE TO SEE YOU TONIGHT!

Devos on Prayer & Fasting

Hello Everyone,
I am writing to let you all know that this coming week, if you are interested, I will be writing devotions on the topic of Prayer & Fasting on my ministry website. To go to the site, click here.
I pray that you will be blessed with them!
God Bless you!

Mitarbeiterweinachtsfeier

Last night we had our Mitarbeiterweinachtsfeier (Ministry Christmas Party). Pastor Edmund arrived back just in time from CA for this evening and many people were excited to see him. We had a great time of fellowship, eating lots of Italian food (it was absolutely amazing), a time of worship, and a teaching from Pastor Edmund. It was a great opportunity for those who serve in the church to come together and have an evening together where we could simply enjoy each other. Although everyone was not able to make it out for the evening, there were still many who could and we were blessed to have each of them out!
One of the things that was amazing to see was the fact of how many people were there (and this is not all of the servants in the church) and to think of what the LORD truly is doing here at CC Herborn. When I really stop and think about how many people are coming to the church and then stop and think about how we are in Europe, it is amazing to be reminded of the work of the Lord that HE is doing in this place!
PRAISE JESUS!

It's Beginning to look alot like Christmas...

This past Monday, it was our day off and all of us were finally healthy and so we decided that it would be a great day to go take a walk in the snow, but before we did that, we definitely had to spend some time playing in the snow! And so here are a few pics of the fun time that we had! ENJOY!

This was at the end of the day when Jimmy blessed Rebecca and I with some dinner at a traditional German Restaurant! This picture was taken at downtown Herborn

Thanksgiving Pics

We wanted to share with all of you a little bit about our Thanksgiving. Although we were all kind of struggling with being sick, we needed to be faithful to celebrate our American Holiday! And so this year the Lohmann family decided to invite us over to their house for Thanksgiving. Last year we invited them over to our house and so this year we switched it up. I asked Dennis if they normally celebrated Thanksgiving to which he replied, "No, not normally. Last year was the first year, but we have to start a tradition at some point right?!"
So we each shared our parts of the Thanksgiving meal that we would prepare and then we all came together at the Lohmann house. Jimmy, from CC Downey, who has stayed with us a month longer, joined with us as well to celebrate this day!
We had a great time together! The food was amazing! The kids had a blast playing with one another! I shared with everyone a little bit about the history of Thanksgiving and we had a great time enjoying each others presence.
Thank you Lohmann's for hosting it this year! We had a blast!

mmmmmmm! lecker!

Prayer & Fasting Week - Next Week!

In Joel 2:12-17, it says, "Now, therefore," says the LORD, "Turn to Me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning. So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the LORD your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm. Who knows if He will turn and relent, And leave a blessing behind Him— A grain offering and a drink offering For the LORD your God? Blow the trumpet in Zion, Consecrate a fast, Call a sacred assembly; Gather the people, Sanctify the congregation, Assemble the elders, Gather the children and nursing babes; Let the bridegroom go out from his chamber, And the bride from her dressing room. Let the priests, who minister to the LORD, Weep between the porch and the altar; Let them say, "Spare Your people, O LORD, And do not give Your heritage to reproach, That the nations should rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, 'Where is their God?'"

These are the verses that the Lord has given to us as a church to gather together as one body into the house of the Lord and to call upon the name of the Lord. On this coming Monday (Dec. 6th) through Friday (Dec.10th), we are going to be having an all church week of prayer and fasting. Our church has been going through many different trials corporately and individually over the past few years and we believe that the Lord is calling us to come together as one and to seek His face. If you are interested in listening to the message about this whole vision, simply click here.

We are excited to see what the Lord is going to be doing through all of this and we ask you to please join in for prayer for us as a church.
Thank you so much!

Picking up in Joel

Tonight we will be picking up in the book of Joel once again! Last week I was pretty sick and so Michael (our youth pastor) stepped in and taught for me. Thanks Michael! And so as we get into the book of Joel, this little and yet powerful book, we are going to be looking at it in 3 ways. 1) Dealing with their situation practically. 2)Speaking to the people prophetically. 3) Dealing with all people personally.
I am personally looking forward to how the Lord is going to be using this little book to speak to us as a church practically, prophetically, and personally.
Once again, I want to ask all of you who will not be able to come to please be praying for tonight's service.
Pray for the:

  • Preparation of the study
  • Preparation of the hearts
  • Proclamation of the Word
  • Translation of the Word
To those of you who can come, don't let the weather hold you back. Come to meet with your Lord, worship your King, and stir up the saints in love!
